About Evidence Based Birth Class:

Evidence Based Birth childbirth education is a program that emphasizes the use of evidence-based information to inform decision-making during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

The primary focus of Evidence Based Birth childbirth education is to help expectant parents understand the current research evidence and navigate the often confusing landscape of childbirth-related information. The program aims to empower individuals to make informed choices that align with their values and preferences.

What you’ll learn:

  1. Research-based information: The program provides participants with access to the latest research evidence on a wide range of topics related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. This includes information on interventions, pain management options, benefits and risks of various procedures, and best practices for promoting maternal and infant health.

  2. Critical appraisal of evidence: The program teaches participants how to critically evaluate research studies and understand the quality and relevance of the evidence. This helps individuals differentiate between high-quality research and less reliable sources of information.

  3. Decision-making tools: Evidence Based Birth childbirth education equips individuals with tools and frameworks for making decisions based on the available evidence. This includes understanding the concept of informed consent, learning how to ask meaningful questions, and engaging in shared decision-making with healthcare providers.

  4. Communication skills: The program emphasizes effective communication with healthcare providers to advocate for one's needs and preferences. Participants learn strategies for asking questions, discussing options, and building collaborative relationships with their care team.

  5. Emotional preparation: Evidence Based Birth acknowledges the emotional aspects of pregnancy and childbirth. The program offers resources and guidance for managing emotions, reducing fear and anxiety, and promoting a positive mindset for birth.

  6. Birth planning: Participants are encouraged to develop birth plans that reflect their informed choices and preferences. The program provides guidance on creating birth plans that are evidence-based, realistic, and respectful of individual circumstances.

  7. Postpartum care and breastfeeding support: Evidence Based Birth childbirth education recognizes the importance of postpartum care and breastfeeding. The program provides information and resources to support individuals in navigating the early days and weeks after childbirth.
