Doulaing the Doula: The Birth Story of Parker

About the episode:

In this episode, Doula Rachael chats with her co-doula partner, Hannah Atterberry about her amazing birth story. Hannah became a doula before having her own biological child which is rare.  Many doulas become doulas after having their own birth experiences.  Doula Rachael was Hannah’s doula for her birth.

Hannah tells us about her desires and plans for her birth and how she had to make some major adjustments to her plans at 37 weeks pregnant.  She shares the intimate and beautiful details of labor and birth including 39 hours of labor, 3 trips to the birth center, transition during a long car ride to the birth center, birthing in the water, partner support, a possible post-birth transfer to the hospital, and her early postpartum experience.  Hannah also shares what she enjoyed most during labor as well as some helpful tips she gleaned from her experience.
