Traditional childbirth education classes are full of helpful and beneficial information but they often spend a lot of time discussing medical interventions and how to navigate the medical model of care when giving birth in the hospital setting.

To help you prepare for your home birth, we created a specific childbirth class just for people giving birth at home.

Each birth unfolds in its own unique way. Learning what to expect and how to navigate the possible twists and turns of your path to giving birth will help you feel more at ease and confident as you approach the end of your pregnancy.

This class will help you to fill your “tool bag” with helpful tips and resources so that you can navigate your path to giving birth with more ease and confidence.

What you’ll learn:

• Things to do during pregnancy to encourage optimal position for baby

• Variations of normal labor: prodromal labor, back labor, and precipitous labor

• Signs of labor: possible, probable, positive

• Stages of labor: what you may experience physically, emotionally, and physiologically

• Comfort during labor

• Drug free options for pain management during labor

• Positions for labor and pushing

• What occurs immediately after the birth

• Birth planning for possible transfer

• 5-hour in-person class led by Hannah (birth and postpartum doula and newborn care specialist) and Rachael (birth doula and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator)
