About Iesha
Iesha is a postpartum doula serving the Atlanta area and around the perimeter. She is deeply passionate about nurturing people in those early days postpartum. She knows how sacred this time is, and how much families need to be held. She is also a breastfeeding counselor and in the process of completing her IBCLC training.
My name is Iesha Williams and I am a Full-Spectrum Spiritual Doula and breastfeeding counselor, specializing in Postpartum Care. My goal is to serve mothers with the utmost care and intention, and to assist with planning for an empowering birth and/or postpartum experience.
Though I am extremely passionate and focus mainly on postpartum, I trained for a year as a full spectrum doula with The Mothership, a New York based Doula company and I am CPR certified. I am also a Breastfeeding Counselor and an aspiring IBCLC (in progress!) My training was inclusive of all stages of pregnancy up until postpartum and interwoven deeply within communal and ancestral knowledge of how to care for mothers during this time. We focused on providing community based care and bridging the disparities across culture and race. I provide mother-centered care, so that mom can feel supported, nourished and care for her baby.
It is so important to have trusted and intentional support during the postpartum period, which includes the mother’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. A mother’s level of care during postpartum impacts her quality of life for the rest of her life. My role as a Doula is to cater to her spirit, mind and body with tangible tools to assist during her recovery. This is gently done by reaching back to our indigenous and communal ways of holding this journey’s sacredness.
The “Sacred Window” describes the 40-day period of rest. This is an intricately woven and intentional time of recovery encompassing the 5 universal postpartum needs, which are warm nourishing foods, extended period of rest, loving touch, contact with nature and spiritual companionship. It is also a time of deep change and spiritual transformation as you transition to motherhood for the 1st or 5th time!
I am a wife and mommy to my baby boy who has really deeply spiritually transformed me in my own human journey and deepened my relationship with God. I am also a writer, poet, creative and love reading! I love to spend time with my family and friends, travel, go to church as well as being outside in nature.
I had my son in January of 2020, in New York, right before Covid hit the world. It was one of the hardest seasons of our lives because we did not have the support that we needed. It is during my own “Sacred Window” that I was called into birth work. I am deeply grateful to be able to serve women and families during this time. It was during this time that I realized, no woman/family should be going through this season alone or in isolation and just how imperative a supportive community is for motherhood!
I look forward to assisting you and your family into this beautiful, transformative journey into motherhood.
Client testimonial:
“With Iesha’s help, I was able to have the birth that I always dreamed of having. I wanted to have a natural birth with my first child, but did not do enough research or preparation in advance… things just didn’t go as planned. During pregnancy with my second child, Iesha helped me prepare extensively for my natural birth (unmedicated water birth in a hospital!!!) She was equipped with so much knowledge and wisdom from not only her extensive research, qualifications and God-given gifts, but also from her own natural birth!!!” - Justine D.
